LEARNING STYLES

The student I chose has a visual learning style. I found it out because she likes working with pictures and drawings. She loves coloring images and organizing information in charts and cluster maps. In geography class she is really good at locating places in maps. In Arts she is very skillful; her productions on drawings related to cartoons and countrysides are excellent. During the classes I have tried to work with her different visal material which is alternated with activities that she solves in her notebook or on the board. She enjoys working with manipulatives or hands on activities. As a result of these activities, the girl participates all the time, she shows happiness in the class activities and her behavior is excellent.

DOING SOMETHING NEW AND DOING SOMETHING AUTONOMOUSLY: COOKING

First of all, I had to decide the kind of recipe I wanted to work with. I decided to make Pancakes and I reflected on how I could relate this homework with learning. While I was making my pancakes I reflected on each one of the steps for it and how could I apply this in the classroom with my students?. The steps are the following:

1. Decide what do you want to prepare?(type of recipe)

2. Get ready the ingredients

3. The cooker is ready for the action

4. The cooker mixes all the ingredients until the mixture is ready. She follows
the suggested steps for that specific recipe.

5. While this process is happening others can help.

6. Let it on the heat until it is ready

7. The pancakes are ready.

8. The members of the family enjoy the pancakes.

9. And..everybody is happy

WHAT ABOUT THE LEARNING PROCESS?

1. Decide on the skill that you want to work with.

2. Decide on the type of approach according to the students’ needs.

Behaviorist? Content –based?

Nativist? Constructivism? Functional?

Communicative?

Which one is the correct one???????

3. The teacher is ready to work in the classroom

4. The teacher already selected the approach and starts to apply the pre and
while processes for the activity she has planned for this specific class.

5. Collaborative work and peer correction must be in this proccess

6. Let the students make mistakes when they learn by correcting them

7. The students finally learned this topic.

8. Students, teachers and parents are happy when they realize that goal was
achieved

LEARNING STYLES

When we know our students we can tell what type of learning style they are. Most of my students are kinesthetic and visual. This is a video about them.
